Important Google AdWords Update

To our PPC clients –

Some news from Google was confirmed this week that may affect your AdWords campaign.

Google is eliminating ads that appear to the right of organic searches. From now on, they will show 3 or 4 ads up top, and the rest will appear under organic results. This is how they are currently displayed on mobile devices which already accounts for 50% or more of most our our clients’ accounts.

We believe this will heat up competition for those top slots and negatively impact click thru rate when ads display below organic results. However, we also believe the average AdWords manager will overreact, overbid and start running out of money sooner in the day than most already do, which means we might lose traffic earlier in the day, but pick it up later. We review your analytics weekly, so we’ll be on top of this for you, and we’ll let you know if we see a dramatic change in your campaign.

This change will make it even more important for you to have a good understanding of what is an affordable cost per click for you. We strongly believe your AdWords advertising campaign needs to have a positive ROI for you, and we will continue to work with you to think through what you can afford, and find opportunities for you to get clicks that make business sense.

As always, let us know if you have any questions.
