Posts by Google, the name of this new feature, once only open to select sports teams, political candidates, films, and the like, is now available to all businesses that use the Google My Business platform. Posts by Google gives local businesses the opportunity to attract new customers and build relationships with existing ones by posting relevant content and offering call to action opportunities.

According to Google, here’s what Posts by Google offers:

  • Sharing daily specials or current promotions that encourage new and existing customers to take advantage of your offers.
  • Promoting events and telling customers about upcoming happenings at your location.
  • Showcasing your top products and highlighting new arrivals.
  • Choosing one of the available options to connect with your customers directly from your Google listing: give them a one-click path to make a reservation, sign up for a newsletter, learn more about latest offers, or even buy a specific product from your website.

Posts by Google allows businesses to engage with customers in a real-time way, much like features offered by Facebook. The ability to create a custom calls-to-action on your business listing that put customers one click away from your product or service is major improvement over Google’s former offering. Posts will show up in both Google search and the map results related to your business.
