How would you describe yourself in three words?

Creative, Honest, Father

It’s a typical Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., what are you doing?

Spending time with my family either playing outside with my kids or bringing them out somewhere for food and fun.

Where is the best place you’ve traveled to and why?

Sarasota, Florida. The weather there is amazing. It never gets too hot or too cold. The Gulf has a nice breeze that comes in cooling everything off and unlike most of Florida, the humidity is relatively low. The nicest beach I’ve ever been to, Siesta Key, is there. It has clear blue water where you could see the colorful little fish swimming around your toes. I loved it so much there that I actually moved there from 2004 to 2006.

What characteristic do you most admire in others?

A good sense of humor. The world is a crazy place and I like to joke around to keep myself sane. It’s great when I have other people to share my humor with.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

I would be a chef. I love cooking almost as much as I love eating and always dreamed of opening my own restaurant. It’s something I hope to one day be able to do once I retire.

What was the last gift you gave someone?

With Toy R Us closing we decided to bring our boys over to take advantage of the sales. They found these scooters in the store and insisted on riding them around the entire store while we shopped. So, we decided to get them as an early gift for their 4th birthday.

If you could give advice to your 13-year-old self, what would you say?

I would probably tell myself to learn computers and start Facebook before Mark Zuckerberg thinks of it. In all seriousness though I would definitely tell myself to learn computers over studying art. I am mostly self-taught in all of my computer skills because computer courses weren’t very popular or even available when I was in school. I would also stress the importance of health and convince myself to never smoke and to exercise regularly.

Tell us something that might surprise us about you.

I have a lot of hobbies like writing a gaming blog, collecting and painting miniatures, playing multiple instruments like the guitar and harmonica, and reading at least a book a week. But the one hobby that might surprise people is that I collect yo-yos. I have an extensive collection including some original Tom Kuhn No-Jive’s from the ‘70s, a few one-of-a-kind wooden yoyos that were hand made, and even a few that are hand painted by famous yoyoer and visual artist, John Higby.

What are three things still left on your bucket list?

  1. Visit Ireland with my family.
  2. Drive across the country trying to hit each of the states at least once.
  3. Meet Mark Hamill (I’m a giant Star Wars Nerd too).

What are you most proud of?

I’m most proud of my twin boys. They had a rough start to life as 30-week-old premies who both needed open heart surgeries among other medical challenges. They spent the first 6 months of their lives in CHOP. Now they’re about to be 4 years old and you would never know they had any medical issues. They run the fastest, scream the loudest, and play the hardest of any other kids I’ve seen their age. The most amazing part of them is that they are both incredibly happy and sweet kids who are more loving than you could imagine. They never complain and always have smiles on their faces.
